“I’m too real for social media” - decision making, procrastination and social media drama
Any time I want to post something I have to choose what language to use. In my head I switch constantly between 3 languages. I like to write English more because it has that emotional impact in my feeling, Dutch is braaf and Polish, hmmm .. it's something I had to learn not to speak when I came to Belgium, so it’s like a under-pressed… English and dutch feels also faster. Sometimes I even catch myself making the first sentence 3 times in different languages very fast in my head to make a choice.
Than I have to choose the content theme, the formaat - what did I post last? Can I post 3 static posts after echother? What are the colors from the last 6 posts? Oh, what was it I was going to post about? Why I didn’t batch my content again? Pfff, I am to real for that s..t! I will make some name cards and go networking instead.
Do you know this? I think a lot of us this days is so overwhelmed with all the social media strategies, formats, algoritmes that it is almost impossible to stay true to yourself and to your followers. But this is what it’s all about - authenticity - let to know you, because people buy from people.. (still…yet…let it please stay this way ).
So, what now? Stop with social media? We all know it’s the fastest en the cheapest way to get attention, and if you want your business to be on top of mind you just have to go with it.
Than what? You could use IA to help you generate writing content although it’s not so easy to spill quality content without the good AI knowledge. Then you will still need the visuals. That is something many get stressed about and procrastinate. To show yourself in public, first you will have to decide how you want to be seen. But who am I really? What do I want to show and what NOT? I still want my privacy for me and for my family. And if I show myself- how would it work for my business? I will need a strategy…
“To show yourself in public, first you will have to decide how you want to be seen. ”
Do you recognize this? And we stop doing again…we think….procrastinate. First we try to make new strategie, ask AI for help. It looks great, but next day you don’t know where to start. It felt yesterday like it was ready and today it feels like you have nothing, because you only have a plan now you need to push yourself even harder. It’s hard. I know. The hardest part is to make content for yourself and post it without doubting.
I make content for others and this is so much easier. First we seat somewhere in a nice place with great coffee and we talk about the person that is the rock of this business -> Who is she? What is she like? What is her audience? What is she selling? How can she help her audience? etc…
You need to ask yourself this questions, if you want a strategy that works for you instead of posting individual posts. Than we look at the branding, the colors, the formats, make the templates- all that makes you recognizable and lovable for the right audience. After that we choose thema’s that you can repeat so you don’s have to think about (and make) new content allover again. This is the time you start to plan posts knowing your strategie, best in bulk so you don’t have to think every time what the next steps is. If you don’t have visuals, you will need to plan 1-2 content days with your camera or ask a professional, like myself, to do it for you. When you puzzled everything, you can plan your content and don’t think about is anymore for a while.
It feels very relieving.
The difficult part is to stay focused and do all this things by yourself - about yourself. That’s why many enterpreneurs hire someone to make visual content, copywriter, manage social media or coach the m through it. If you also feel like you can’t go around this social media drama, but you are “too real for this”, and need some help, someone to hold your hand and push you a bit where needed, show you the tools to make it easier and take some of the trouble away.
